AKA Golden Kiwifruit. I've had a hankering for kiwi lately. At my local Trader Joes, I grabbed a bag of regular green kiwis and noticed a mesh bag of smaller, "golden" kiwi in the same bin. Hmm, I thought, I wonder what they are like.
Well, I'll tell you what they are like. Little bites of heaven, that's what they're like.
They taste like regular kiwi, with less acidic bite and a little more melon flavor. And they're AMAZING. They we're only 20 cents more expensive than the regular kiwis (of a bag of six) and, sadly, I've eaten four of them already. This is going to require a trip to TJs for another bunch.
Soooooo goood. I highly recommend picking some up if you have the opportunity. And don't waste time peeling the skin off; just cut a little bit off the top (like from the stem end) and scoop out the flesh with a spoon (like you would with a soft-boiled egg, if there is anyone left in the world who eats soft-boiled eggs).
I might have to go eat another one right now.

We have a TJ gift certificate, so I guess I know what we'll be buying with it!
