I love Italy, particularly Venice, and in general I love the Italians. Every time that NOVA shows the special on the underwater gates that the Italians want to use to keep water from flooding the lagoon and hence Venice, I watch.
So I pray and pray that the Italians will at some point get their act together and save Venice. This article from the BBC doesn’t give me much hope.

Aren't you being a little harsh on NJ? :) I have a long blog post in my mind, specializing in NJ apologetics (that being the often-overlooked beauty of the state, not apologizing for it), but it has yet to make it out into the blogosphere.
I love Venice and Italians too, though a bit smelly...the canals, that is. ;)
