La Bella Figura...

I just finished reading Beppe Severgnini's La Bella Figura - a Field Guide to the Italian Mind. It's an amusing little book that attempts to explain Italian idiosynchrisies to a foreigner (why Italians don't generally think of a Red Light as an absolute command to stop). It's a quick read (I started it yesterday morning and finished on the trip home on the train tonight). Coincedentally, he was just interviewed yesterday on All Things Considered on NPR, which you can listen to here.

I know that his explanations of Italian life and their attitude towards work would just upset poor CC, though.

My next book is Camus' The Stranger, a decidedly different type of reading altogether.
