To welcome in the New Year, the state of Maryland sent us our property assessment, which is used to calculate our property taxes. Our home's worth, according to the state of Maryland, has increased to $492k. This is up from ~$250k when we bought the house in 2002. Yikes! Luckily for us, our property tax increases are limited to 10% a year and the increase in value is phased in over three years. Or something like that. Basically our taxes are going to be like $4500 a year or more when all is said and done.
At least we're not in New Jersey.
As a side note, it was just painful watching Dick Clark doing his NYC NYE thing.... let him retire already!

I read some report where Dick Clark was caught on film kissing some blond babe. Go figure, I guess some people still want him around.
