
There's a great New York Times article that discusses the craze over coffee-making, and how easy it is to get obsessive about it.
DH and I got our grinder two days ago, bought a total of 3 lbs of beans trying to get the perfect espresso, have gone through at least 1 lb so far, and have yet to produce anything remotely drinkable. (Well, that's not really true, but we would have needed a lot of sugar)
