First night "alone"

Ugh. After a grueling long day, a horrendous flight (made so enjoyable by the three women who WOULD NOT SHUT UP on a 7am flight) and a exhausting evening with my dad the endless storyteller and my father-in-law, captive audience, it's finally time to be alone. After a short and sweet phone chat with DH (who hasn't set up his own internet service yet - so no audio chat for us) I have some time alone.

Except for the alone part. I'm actually looking forward to Friday night, when FIL will return home and I'll get the house to myself. There is so much cleaning that needs to be done; the kitchen is a mess, the bathroom is ugly, kitty poop needs scooping. I just don't have the energy to get it done tonight. I'm just going to crawl into bed and drop dead asleep.

It's going to be a long week.

On the bright side, I harvested my first vegetable from the garden tonight! A zucchini that apparently took steroids over the weekend - it was only 4 inches Friday - was a little over-ready for picking tonight; the darn thing was almost 12 inches. I basted it with cracked pepper and olive oil and grilled it with a leftover eggplant half, some leftover baby bella mushrooms, and two small onions. Yummy.

Okay... time for bed. Yawn.
