Well, here is it, 11:30am, and I've just woken up. Unbelievable. I didn't get home until about 2:00 last night. But it was a very good night. A girlfriend and I successfully managed to get tickets to "Lunch," which was a lot more drama than I anticipated. I really thought that the Capital Fringe Festival was going to be a big thing downtown with lots of advertisements, flyers, etc around the area (in the general vicinity of Gallery Place). It took us forever to find the "festival" box office, and when we did they told us they stopped selling tickets 2 hours before the show. Well frick.. the venue box office didn't open until one hour before the show, so we had to haul our butts over there and wait (cause there were only 5 tickets left). There went our plans to get something to drink and eat before the show.
To make a long story short, we got tickets (we were the only ones in line who did), the show was fantastic and perfectly (scarily so) captured eighth grade cafeteria politics (except these kids were a lot more cognescent of sex than I was in eighth grade). It was a piece of musical theatre - which surprised me - but it was really good. Very entertaining.
We met a couple of guys at the show that Andrea had met at a party some months earlier and after the show we all headed out to Jaleo for a few drinks and tapas. It was a really good time, just some really fun conversation and stuff. They guys left around midnight, so my girlfriend and I chatted a while longer, before we jumped onto the Metro and traveled home.
If you have the chance to catch "Lunch," be sure to do so. It is very, very entertaining.

Wow, here I was feeling bad that you were having a rough week and we didn't invite you out, but it seems you were able to entertain yourself!
Hey, I wrote that show...
...and made sure you actually got tickets.

Hi Shawn!
Hi Shawn!
Great work... I hope that you know I was joking about that I offer I made you in order to get tickets.
We really enjoyed the show! You rocked! I hope that you have nothing but incredible success in the future!
I hope that mophead and magic box are okay, though. They were still dead on the floor when we left. :)
Hey Shawn, is there a recording of the music available?
"Stickfigure" is still stuck in my head...
Great show! Will it be showing outside the Fringe Festival some time.
BTW: I am the "girlfriend" that was waiting for tickets
What? The offer was a joke? That's a cruel joke to play on anyone. For a moment, I thought my art career had finally paid off.
Yes, Mophead and Magic Box are both okay. Their death, too, was simply a cruel hoax perpetrated on the unsuspecting.
Various recordings of the songs can be found at a couple of different websites. However, I don't think "Erase Me" is one of the ones that we've posted (opting instead for the leading with the more upbeat material) However, out there, somewhere, deep within the circuits of the internet, there is a demo recording of the show. I could potentially provide you with the information needed to access this top secret hidden forbidden website.
...but I won't be posting it here.
Next up for Lunch is the New York Musical Festival in September. Check out nymf.org for more "useful" information.
