Sad news folks... Henry is back in the hospital tonight with another urinary blockage. He's going to have the surgery tomorrow that will hopefully prevent this from happening again, but we're pretty upset nonetheless.
We'd noticed he was straining this morning, and DH came home at lunch to see whether he was able to make a little pee chunk in his litter. By the time DH got home from work tonight, Henry was still eating, but not peeing, so we called the vet and they had us bring him right in.
I'm sad because the poor little guy has been through so much in the last two weeks, and now he'll be healing for yet another two. I should be happy, because it's a problem that can be fixed and he'll live a normal lifespan (maybe another 7-10 years).
I'm glad we caught it before the problem did any damage to his kidneys. He's at our local vet tonight, rather than up in Urbana, so we don't have to drive all the way up there.
Quick update: the vet called at about 10pm, letting us know that Henry probably wasn't blocked, but rather suffering from urinary tract spasms that kept him from urinating. She asked if we wanted to continue with medical treatment - but we said that we were likely going to opt for the surgery anyway, so keep the surgery on schedule for tomorrow. Poor little kitty!
