Today - Columbus Day - is supposed to be a Federal Holiday! Not for me it wasn't! I drove - DROVE - my little Bug down to Silver Spring in the hope that it would be a short day and I wouldn't have to worry about catching the train.
It certainly wasn't an auspicious beginning; I walked into the lobby of our building only to discover that the power was out, only one elevator was working, and when I got to our floor, there was no air conditioning, no computers, not even any lights. Ridiculous. This was at 9am. The power did come on about an hour later, and instead of leaving around 2 as I had hoped, I didn't end up getting out of the office until 7pm! Not cool.
The way things were going, I was worried I wouldn't make it home in time for "How I met your Mother" and "Heroes." HIMYM was pretty funny - Danica McKellar is so cute. Heroes was less than I expected, very boring and lots of unnecessary repetition and filler. I'm not over it yet, but I'm close... so very close!
